Finance Manager

Avalanche Studios is an independent AAA developer dedicated to creating huge open worlds, full of explosive, emergent gameplay and since 2011 we have been making games in New York City.

Avalanche Studios is currently looking for a Finance Manager to be a key contributor to the New York studio. We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager with strong accounting expertise, high analytical skills, a strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and eagerness to deliver towards set goals. Someone who will work independently and take responsibility for delivering high quality work against given deadlines and ensure a structure around the financial follow-up and reporting.

You are analytical with an active interest in the company's business and development and enjoy being part of an entrepreneurial organization.You are driven by being involved in the company's continued development in an exciting industry. You will report directly to the CFO who’s based in Sweden and you will be part of the Operations team in NY. You get the opportunity to work in one of the largest independent game development studios, founded 14 years ago and offering world-leading and innovative open world technology and game development.

We are looking for candidates with an academic degree in economics and about 5 years of experience in qualified accounting work, as well as experience in financial statements and reporting. If you have a background in the audit industry, we consider that a plus. Candidates must have worked in the Quickbooks and Office package, mainly Excel. All applicants are required to work full-time in New York.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day responsibility for all financial activities within the Avalanche New York studio (bookkeeping, entries, reconciliations, bank balances, payments, corporate card expenditures)  
  • Full  monthly and year-end closing activities including all balance sheet reconciliations ( bank, fixed assets, AR, AP and prepaid, accruals) depreciations, intercompany reconciliation and taxes
  • Payments and cash planning
  • Financial reporting to headquarters in Sweden (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)
  • Financial planning Budget and Forecasts
  • Operating project- and operations follow-up, variance analysis and reporting
  • Audit
  • Taxes
  • Preparing company payroll


  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance or Business
  • Relevant working experiences in
    • qualified accounting work
    • Financial statements and reporting
    • Office package mainly Excel and Powerpoint
    • Payroll experience is a plus
    • Benefits (e.g. health insurance, 401k, etc)
    • Variance analysis
    • Managing budgets and working capital
  • Familiarity with NY taxes and insurance a must
  • Quickbooks experience a must
  • Positive attitude and good communication
