Interactive Entertainment) and is currently working on Rage 2 (published by Bethesda Softworks), scheduled for release in 2019. As a publisher, Avalanche Studios has brought free-to-play service theHunter Classic to market and reached more than 7 million registered players across 190 countries. The theHunter franchise was expanded in 2017 to also include premium title theHunter: Call of the Wild, which was released for PC and subsequently console platforms. The studio develops games using its proprietary Apex technology, enabling huge open worlds filled with emergent gameplay.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and exceptionally skilled programmer to take on a systems and graphics role on an exciting and unique title. At Avalanche Studios Malmö you will work with some of the industry’s most exciting technology and talented individuals out there.
This is a great opportunity for the candidate who wants to assume an instrumental role within our new studio. As a system programmer on this project you will play a vital role in the smooth development of the game. You will help develop, maintain and adapt core systems of the game as well an ensuring they are optimised and debugged. The graphics aspect of the role will be to ensure we continue our long tradition of shipping realistic and stunningly beautiful open worlds. You will work closely with the art and tech departments and take responsibility for elevating the visual quality of the game to the highest possible level. You should have a strong background in lower level console programming as well as graphics having worked on multiple shipped titles.
In addition to outstanding technical knowledge, we are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong communication and collaboration abilities who can be a key player in our highly skilled programming team.To thrive in a programming position at Avalanche Studios, you need to be willing and have the ability to learn new tools, technologies and workflows. You must have a positive attitude and curious nature to help contribute to a healthy team dynamic and offering constructive solutions to our challenges.
- 5+ years of professional programming experience
- At least one current generation console title shipped
- Solid background in rendering with experience in shaders and lighting
- A well-developed aesthetic sense
- Strong maths skills
- Strong debugging, profiling and optimization skills for cpu/gpu
- A solid understanding of the console architectures
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Direct experience with PS4 or XBox One development for a shipped title
- A general understanding of all aspects of game programming, including physics, animation, AI and networking
- Experience from assembly level debugging, preferably PPC or X86
- Experience with console TCRs
- Experience with streaming engines and how that affects resource management
- Experience working on multiplayer games
