Avalanche Studios is the original creator of the award-winning Just Cause franchise (published by Square Enix), the developer of Mad Max (published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment) and is currently working on Rage 2 (published by Bethesda Softworks), scheduled for release in 2019. As a publisher, Avalanche Studios has brought free-to-play service theHunter Classic to market and reached more than 7 million registered players across 190 countries. The theHunter franchise was expanded in 2017 to also include premium title theHunter: Call of the Wild, which was released for PC and subsequently console platforms. Avalanche Studios, which is based in Stockholm, New York City and Malmö, was founded in 2003 by Christofer Sundberg and Linus Blomberg. The studio develops games using its proprietary Apex technology, enabling huge open worlds filled with emergent gameplay.
Avalanche Studios is looking for a Senior Backend Programmer to spearhead the development of both internal and player-facing backend services. The services you will develop will be used in our self-published games with millions of active users.
In this role you will design and develop our next generation of backend services as well as support existing games running on current generation backend. The senior back end programmer will work with other back end programmers throughout the company as well as the lead programmer to plan and implement our long term technical roadmaps. Our backend stack consist of a variety of compartmentalized services implemented in Go and Python and we’re looking for someone who have solid experience developing services with high performance requirements.
Senior level, expected a minimum of 5+ years of professional programming experience
Strong knowledge in Python or Go
Experience from storage technologies such as MySQL, NoSQL, Memcache
A great sense of technical excellence, functionality and problem-solving
Strong communication skills
Excellent verbal and written English
Previous work with high availability solutions
