Avalanche Studios is the original creator of the award-winning Just Cause franchise (published by Square Enix), the developer of Mad Max (published by Warner Bros. The Position
We are looking for a Senior Gameplay programmer to take a key role at our new studio in beautiful Malmö, Sweden. In this role you will work closely with our system, mission and world designers to specify and implement core features of gameplay. You will provide the tools and run-time components necessary for designers to create compelling missions and build complex rewarding mechanics. You will be instrumental in pushing the level of interactivity and immersive nature of the world, as is typical in Avalanche's explosive open world games. 
 
We are looking for a highly motivated senior game programmer who is used to working across a wide range of different programming areas. A generalist with expertise in one or more areas is ideal. While game play is the focus for this role, we would love to see candidates who are excited about designing and implementing features that stretches into other areas such as network, AI, Animation, sound, tools and physics.

Required Qualifications:
  • A keen sense of fun and an understanding of what makes gameplay work.
  • Familiarity with gameplay code in general
  • Very strong C/C++ skills
  • Multiple shipped console and/or PC titles
  • A strong interest in forming strong working relationships with other disciplines

Desired Qualifications:
  • Additional experience in other areas of code.
  • Physics
  • AI / Animation
  • Sound programming
  • Tools
  • Knowledge of platform architectures and how to create efficient code for each platform.
  • Experience of profiling and optimization.
