Avalanche Studios is the original creator of the award-winning Just Cause franchise (published by Square Enix), the developer of Mad Max (published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment) and is currently working on Rage 2 (published by Bethesda Softworks), scheduled for release in 2019. As a publisher, Avalanche Studios has brought free-to-play service theHunter Classic to market and reached more than 7 million registered players across 190 countries. The theHunter franchise was expanded in 2017 to also include premium title theHunter: Call of the Wild, which was released for PC and subsequently console platforms. Avalanche Studios, which is based in Stockholm, New York City and Malmö, was founded in 2003 by Christofer Sundberg and Linus Blomberg. The studio develops games using its proprietary Apex technology, enabling huge open worlds filled with emergent gameplay.
We are looking for a versatile lead programmer to drive the development of one of our most successful products. We believe you have a solid background in game development on PC and/or consoles, as well as a strong interest in leading and mentoring high-performance teams.
As the Lead programmer you work with multiple disciplines, primarily using your expertise to design solutions to any technical issues and challenges you face in your project. As the total number of programmers you manage is relatively small, it is likely that you will spend a good amount of your time programming, implementing tasks or researching new and emerging technologies.
On a day-to-day basis you will also mentor your programmers through code reviews and over-the-shoulder reviews. As the lead you are responsible for the overall technical quality of all code produced within your team and we think that this is something that motivates and drives you. The lead programmer will also work closely with the Apex/Engine team and other technical leads within Avalanche to promote knowledge sharing and development synergies.

- 8-10 years of professional C/C++ experience
- In depth knowledge of game engine architectures
- Strong profiling, debugging and optimization skills
- Experience releasing games on Playstation and XBox
