We're Moving!

2014-08-20

After more than 10 years developing AAA games in the heart of Stockholm, work has begun on the new space. Avalanche Studios will move into more than 3000 square meters (32 000 square feet) of custom designed space at the top of the new building, which is being constructed only blocks away from the current location. The 160 developers based in Stockholm will enjoy greatly increased studio space and state of the art amenities along with all-important high tech infrastructure. The new building is set to be awarded LEED Platinum certification for best in class energy efficiency and low environmental impact. Avalanche Studios has signed a lease for 5 years and will move in the fall of 2015.

While we are moving to a brand new space, it's important for us to remain in the hotbed of game development talent that is central Stockholm, said Fredrik Sjöö, COO of Avalanche Studios. Working together with Vasakronan and the architects at Studio Stockholm is incredibly inspiring. I can't wait to realize our collective vision and create a space worthy of the industry's top talent.

- This is a very exciting opportunity, commented Marco Checchi, partner at Studio Stockholm. Avalanche Studios' distinct outward attitude coupled with a warm and welcoming working atmosphere makes them unique in the games industry. We intend to manifest that duality in a physical space.

Avalanche Studios is currently based in both Stockholm and New York. The NYC studio recently also expanded and now occupies close to 1700 square meters (18 000 square feet) of custom space in the trendy SoHo district. It is currently home to more than 90 developers across all disciplines. The two studios function as one, openly sharing knowledge across the Atlantic, with team members collaborating and traveling between cities.

2015 is set to be the biggest year since the inception of Avalanche Studios more than a decade ago. Next year, players will be able to roam the lethal open-world wasteland of Mad Max.

In addition, theHunter is on a record breaking streak. More than a million players have signed up for the world’s most realistic wildlife experience since the Steam introduction earlier this year, bringing the total number to over 4 million.

Avalanche Studios also has several surprises planned for next year. Keep your eyes on avalanchestudios.com.
