We don't believe in confining creative talent within walls, figuratively or literally. This belief is expressed in a number of different ways.
At Avalanche Studios Group, we believe that everyone has a role to play and can contribute to the games we create. We embrace our differences and as such, we provide goals instead of singular instructions. While we are always happy to help, we trust in your judgment and, more importantly, in your freedom to shape the way you create, collaborate, and communicate inside and outside of the studio.
We value transparency and believe that great ideas can come from anyone. We want our objectives, strategies, and goals to be visible to you and everyone else, and have you tell us what you think of them. We also want all our employees to share their hopes, motivations, and - let's not pretend they don't exist - frustrations with us.
We conduct weekly surveys to find out what we're doing well and what needs to improve. Our producers are also known to schedule one-on-one meetings with every member on their team. In short, every voice matters regardless of your title, background, or how long you have been with us. If you say something, we listen.
Nothing is more important than our employees, so we work hard to ensure their health and happiness. We believe in a sound work-life balance and go to great lengths to protect this often championed but rarely realized concept. Overtime is considered a failure. As such, it's the exception, not the norm. We simply value a sustainable team higher than crunch.
In any largely sedentary industry, health initiatives are important. We offer massages and meditation during work hours, along with a variety of sport activities like soccer, basketball, yoga, badminton, and running. Our studios are stocked with healthy eating options, hot and cold drinks and fresh fruit. We have morning fikas, after-works and regular events such as Halloween pumpkin carving competitions, and movie and board game nights. Most of the time we celebrate for a reason, but sometimes... Just 'cause.

Our first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion report is a way for us to be more transparent about DEI efforts by giving a snapshot of some of the steps we took in 2021, our challenges, and the journey ahead.
At Avalanche Studios Group, we do not only work within teams dedicated to creating amazing open world games. We also belong to something called Crafts; teams based around disciplines that function independently of studio locations and projects.
Crafts serve a number of different and important purposes. We designed this framework to create a greater sense of place and direction. We want to allow competence to evolve and spread within a given discipline across our current projects. It's a way for senior staff to share their knowledge, but also to make sure that ideas from new employees are heard and considered.
Every developer is invited to shape the company's future within their discipline. In the Art, Programming, or Animation Crafts (to name just a few), any given individual has a chance to make a significant impact in the long term strategic goals. We believe this creates an organic, inclusive, forward momentum that is unique to Avalanche Studios Group.
At Avalanche Studios Group, we believe in developing our talent by offering clear career paths and development plans. We strongly believe in knowledge sharing between teams, projects, and individuals. We arrange regular workshops, lunch & learns, where employees can share information they acquired during a trade show, lecture, or trip to a partner company.
There is always a delegation from Avalanche Studios Group at GDC in San Francisco and in Cologne. For those not able to attend, we have started to mirror the event with our week-long GDC @ Avalanche. Within each team, there's a wealth of intrinsic knowledge. By scheduling talks during lunches and work hours, as well as arranging Game Jams we make sure that knowledge permeates all of Avalanche Studios Group.
In 2021, Avalanche Studios Group started our journey with My Dream Now, on a mission to inspire young people who may lack access to career role models, those who may not know anyone personally who has a job that inspires them.
Since then, many Avalanchers have become class coaches with My Dream Now, regularly visiting primary and secondary schools in Sweden. We share our stories, hear the students’ own ones, and help them visualize a bright future for themselves.
We also host regular visits to our offices in Stockholm and Malmö, where students get to see how we make our games and talk to Avalanchers about how and why they got into the industry.
My Dream Now creates inspiring meetings between students and working professionals. These are crucial interactions for young people to engage in. By providing them to children who may be without connections across industries, My Dream Now is opening doors to an open world of careers. And you know how we feel about open worlds! The organization’s vision is for all young people to understand their value in society and find their own paths to jobs and dreams.
